The Benefits of Wood Heat

There is nothing quite like the warmth of a real wood fire. Beyond the ambiance, wood heat is one of the most efficient and cost-effective ways to supplement your home's heating system during the cold Tennessee and North Georgia winters. A high-efficiency wood stove can dramatically reduce your reliance on gas or electric heating, lowering your monthly utility bills while keeping your home warm and comfortable.

Wood heat also offers independence from utility companies. When ice storms knock out power or natural gas prices spike, a wood stove keeps your family warm regardless. With a reliable supply of seasoned firewood, you control your own heat source — no outages, no rate hikes, no waiting on repairs.

Modern wood stoves are engineered for clean, efficient combustion. EPA-certified models like the Regency line burn so efficiently that they produce minimal smoke and extract maximum heat from every log. The result is lower fuel costs, less creosote buildup in your chimney, and a heating experience that is both practical and deeply satisfying.

Regency Fireplace Inserts

Transform your existing masonry fireplace into a high-efficiency heat source. Every Regency insert is EPA 2020 certified, delivering clean combustion with minimal emissions. Hybrid models feature Eco-Boost triple burn technology for longer burns, higher efficiency, and may qualify for the U.S. Biomass Tax Credit.

Complete Wood Stove Service — From Showroom to Installation

Most homeowners are forced to deal with one company that sells wood stoves and a completely different company that installs them. That means two schedules to coordinate, two invoices, and nobody who takes full responsibility when something goes wrong. We do it differently.

At Full Service Chimney Sweep, we handle everything under one roof. We help you choose the right model for your home based on square footage, chimney configuration, and how you plan to use it. We manage the entire installation — including venting, chimney connections, and code compliance. And when your stove needs service or maintenance down the road, you call the same team that installed it.

One company, one point of contact, no runaround. That is how it should work.

Industry-Leading Warranty

Every Regency product is backed by a lifetime limited warranty. Hybrid models include 10-year, 100% coverage on the original catalyst — the best in the industry. All products are manufactured in North America using heavy-gauge steel, and installed by our team with over 37 years of experience.

Firewood Tips — Burn Smart, Burn Safe

The firewood you burn matters just as much as the stove you burn it in. Seasoned firewood — wood that has been split and dried for six to twelve months — is the only type of wood you should be putting in your stove. You can identify seasoned wood by the cracks and splits visible on the cut ends, its lighter weight compared to fresh-cut wood, and the hollow sound it makes when two pieces are knocked together.

Unseasoned or "green" firewood still contains a high percentage of moisture. When you burn it, that moisture turns to steam, which cools the flue gases and causes creosote to build up rapidly inside your chimney. Creosote is the number one cause of chimney fires. Green wood also burns inefficiently — you get less heat per log, more smoke, and more residue clogging your chimney system.

Always burn seasoned hardwoods like oak, hickory, or maple for the cleanest, safest, and most efficient fire. Your stove will perform better, your chimney will stay cleaner, and your home will be warmer. Even with proper fuel, regular chimney cleaning is essential for wood stove owners to prevent creosote buildup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a fireplace insert and a freestanding wood stove?

A fireplace insert slides into your existing masonry fireplace opening, transforming an inefficient open fireplace into a high-efficiency heat source. A freestanding wood stove is a standalone unit that can be placed anywhere in your home with proper venting — it does not require an existing fireplace. Both options deliver excellent heat, but the right choice depends on your home's layout and whether you have an existing fireplace to work with.

How much does it cost to install a wood stove?

Installation costs depend on the model you choose, your chimney configuration, and whether any modifications are needed for venting or code compliance. We handle everything — sales, installation, venting, and chimney connections — under one roof, so you get a single, transparent quote. Call (423) 892-2670 for a free consultation and estimate.

Do wood stoves require a chimney?

Yes — all wood-burning appliances require proper venting to safely exhaust smoke and combustion gases. A fireplace insert connects to your existing chimney flue (typically through a new stainless steel liner). A freestanding stove can vent through an existing chimney or through a new insulated chimney pipe installed through the ceiling and roof. We handle all venting as part of our installation service.

What kind of wood should I burn in my stove?

Always burn seasoned hardwoods like oak, hickory, or maple. Seasoned wood has been split and dried for six to twelve months, bringing its moisture content below 20 percent. You can identify it by the cracks on the cut ends, its lighter weight, and the hollow sound when two pieces are knocked together. Never burn green (unseasoned) wood, treated lumber, or trash — these create excessive creosote buildup and can damage your stove and chimney.

We install and service wood stoves across Chattanooga, Signal Mountain, Lookout Mountain, Hixson, Soddy-Daisy, Harrison, Ooltewah, Ridgeside, and Hamilton County in Tennessee, plus Lookout Mountain, Ringgold, Dalton, Lafayette, Chickamauga, Catoosa County, and Whitfield County in Georgia.

Ready to Upgrade to Wood Heat?
